The Safavieh Rug Guide
How to choose the right rug.
Start with the room. We'll help you find the size, material and style that feel right at home.
A beautiful room begins from the ground up.
Your room is the starting point. These three decisions lead you to the right rug.
Start with your space.
Choose a room to see the sizes, placements and materials that work beautifully.

Anchor the room you live in.
Choose a rug large enough to connect the seating—at minimum, the front legs of your sofa and chairs should rest on it.

Made for this room.

Give every chair room to move.
Your rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond every side of the table so chairs stay comfortably on the rug when pulled out.
Shop Dining Room
Start and end the day in comfort.
Center a generous rug beneath the bed, allowing it to extend at the sides and foot. For smaller rooms, runners offer softness exactly where you need it.
Shop Bedroom
Set the tone from the first step.
Leave a slim border of visible floor around the rug and make sure doors can open freely. Durable, lower-pile constructions work especially well.
Shop Entryway
Make the hardest-working room feel warmer.
Use a runner along a galley or island, or a small area rug beside the sink. Easy-care, low-pile materials keep everyday upkeep simple.
Shop Kitchen
Warm up the hardest floors in the house.
Washable, quick-drying rugs bring comfort to tile and stone. Size mats to where you stand, and leave floor showing around them.
Shop Bathroom
Ground the room you think in.
A rug softens sound and defines the workspace. Choose a size that lets your chair move without catching the rug's edge.
Shop Home Office
Define an open-air room.
Treat a patio like an indoor space: use the rug to unite seating or dining furniture, then choose performance fibers designed for sun and moisture.
Shop OutdoorChoose what you love.
From timeless pattern to quiet texture, find the look that feels most like home.
Every rug deserves a rug pad.
A quality pad adds comfort, helps prevent slipping and protects both the rug and the floor beneath it. Trim it one to two inches smaller than your rug on every side.
